About Us

Our Story

Nusantara Kitchen started in the 1990s as Mak Siti's home kitchen in Joo Chiat, where neighbours would queue at her door for her legendary rendang and nasi lemak. What began as weekend cooking for friends and family grew into a small catering operation, and eventually into the restaurant you see today. Now run by her daughter Aida, Nusantara Kitchen carries forward three generations of recipes — each dish made with the same care, the same spice pastes ground fresh every morning, and the same belief that food is how we show love. The dining room is warm and unpretentious, the portions are generous, and the kitchen is always open.
